Website privacy and policies
Last updated: April 2017.
CODA, Inc. is committed to protecting your online privacy. You can visit our website without registering or providing personal information.
Please note: Tools used by CODA, Inc. and nearly all site operators measure the number of visits made to our sites. These tools collect information such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Each computer has its own IP address—meaning that your home computer, your work computer and the ones you use at the library, school or in other places have individual numbers. IP addresses are necessary for computers and servers to communicate. These info-gathering tools also note which browser is used when someone visits our website (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and so on) and the time of day and duration of a visit. Your name, street address, or other personal information is not collected.
Some entities may sell this general user information gathered on their websites—e.g., the number of people who browse a site from noon to 1 p.m. and how many use Safari. CODA does not sell any information accumulated from the monitoring of this site.
As of this writing (March 31, 2017) providers such as Comcast and AT&T do not sell personal information they collect from their customers’ web browsing. This is subject to change depending on the actions of Congress.
“Cookies” are essentially tiny markers which stay on your hard drive to allow faster, customized access to a site you visit regularly–including financial institutions, social media, and vendors. You can set your browser to block cookies, allow them all, or handle the ones it encounters on a case-by-case basis. You can also purge cookies from your computer by selecting a tool such as “Delete Browser History” and making sure that “cookies” is checked.
This website links to other sites outside of CODA: government agencies, not-for-profits, research journals, and so on. We chose our links carefully and check them often, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of information on third-party sites. We do not control the privacy practices of websites other than codainc.org. If you discover inaccurate or problematic materials in sites to which we have linked, please let us know.
Accuracy and utility of this site
We make every effort to present only accurate, up-to-date information about CODA programs and locations. Errors do happen, and we appreciate site-user communications which alert us to such issues. If you or someone you know needs treatment for alcohol and drug conditions, mental or physical health challenges, please remember that even the best website information is never a substitute for professional treatment. We also work to ensure that this site is accessible to all users. We do by following suggested accessibility guidelines for web design, navigation, color choice, clarity of written materials and so on. Websites are not static–the very nature of their design and use requires updating and changing. We are committed to useful innovation of all our communication materials. If you have questions, comments or suggestions related to any aspect of this site, please write to our Communications Manager, CODA Inc., 1027 E. Burnside St., Portland OR 97214.
